Susan always he had a special kinship with animals. Growing up side by side with the family dog, horse crazy, riding at the Buffalo Equestrian Center (back then the Saddle and Bridle Club) and page after page of sketches of horses, mostly Arabians.

Susan completed the three year Certified Psychic Medium program at the Holistic Studies Institute (Albany, NY) the oldest school for intuitive development in the US. She studied advanced Animal Communication with pioneer animal communicators Penelope Smith and Dawn Hayman (co-founder of Spring Farm Cares in Clinton, NY, the largest animal sanctuary and animal communication center in the US) and evidential mediumship with Brenda Lawrence of Arthur Findlay College, U.K.

She practiced mindfulness meditation with Thich Nhat Hanh and is a Reiki Master Teacher.

Family vacations at Ontario’s Georgian Bay deepened her connection to the natural world. Seagulls called every night for her to leave the table to feed them ... pre-Cambrian rock underfoot, moonlight guiding the boat as they sailed under the night sky.

One day Susan waded out in the water with goldfish Hot Rod in his bowl, telling his story, that he wanted to swim in the "big water" ... that he said he's come back to his bowl when he was through. Susan can only imagine her parents’ relief when Hot Rod swam 'round then back into the bowl. As a little girl Susan felt this knowing was as natural as anything under the sun.

Susan’s friendship with the water grew into a lifelong passion for the canoe; wilderness canoe trips in the US and Canada, flat water and white water canoe races. She is an Adirondack 46er, having climbed the 46 four thousand foot mountains of the Adirondacks. Her work with animals carries a heartfelt appreciation of wild places and the animals who live there.

After completing her BA in history in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania, where she began a music career, Susan moved to the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. After a practical career, she was called to the music and animals she held dear.

Susan & Luther image

"I'm grateful to all the animals teachers who gave me their stories," Susan says. A kind, gentle black Labrador Retriever named Luther was her greatest teacher of all. Almost 16 years at her side, Luther taught her that medical miracles are possible - having healed from cancer and a parazyzing stroke - and how a dog can invite us to walk the hero's walk.
